Volunteering is organized centrally by the Caritas Social Service Organisation. The volunteer work is focused on supporting individuals aged 16 to 70.
A main volunteer activity is spending time with the people and organizing collective activities with them. Therefore, at least some German language skills are needed in order to volunteer at the homeless shelter. The organization does not have a soup kitchen one can volunteer for.

It is possible to volunteer for the Kinderheim in Landstuhl.
The Kinderheim St. Nikolaus is a residential care for children. Our task is to ensure that the needs of children are met when they cannot live with their own family.
We provide 24-hour care and treatment in a house for children whose emotional, behavioral, or social dysfunction requires highly structured care.
The children´s home which 70 children and adolescents aged from 0-21 years are living in nine groups, with different conceptual focus maintained by more than 40 educational professionals.
All rights and responsibilities stay by the parents over the time in residential care.
However, the honorary work needs to be arranged on a case-by-case basis. For this purpose, please contact the POC, Ms. Fritz.
