    Short description

    Originally the ancient sandstone cross stood in the “Reichswald” forest area where the Ramstein Air Base is located nowadays. In the 1950s when the construction of the air base started the cross was relocated to its present site.

    The monument shows the engravings of two symbols – a cup and a book. According to a local legend these symbols commemorate a priest who had fallen victim to robbery and murder on his way to Ramstein.

    The AZUR Water World is a family-friendly indoor and outdoor pool providing year-round recreation for people of all ages.

    The indoor area is equipped with a swimmer‘s pool of 25 meters length, a non-swimmer’s pool with massage jets and waterfall shower, a giant slide and a well-spaced area for kids including a water playground, Jacuzzi, steam bath, a sauna area offering scented steam treatments and a restaurant.

    Outdoors you will find a large 50 meter long pool with diving platforms, a giant slide as well as a baby and kid's pool. The heated outdoor basin can be used in the winter time as well.

    Short description

    Ramstein’s cultural and conference center is host to numerous national and international stars every year. The varied stage program including musicals, concerts, shows, plays and programs for kids attracts lots of visitors. The facility has a seating capacity for up to 800 people and was completed in 1986. It is also suitable for conferences, meetings, exhibitions and parties. The "Congress Center" has its own restaurant “Die Bühne”.

    The building includes a bowling alley, meeting facilities for senior citizens and young people and classrooms for the community's adult education center which offers a wide variety of subjects. It also accommodates the American housing office and the German post office. The public library providing a comprehensive collection of up to date media is located in the building as well.

    The Barbarossa Cycleway runs the whole way across the Palatinate, starting on the Rhine in the imperial city of Worms and passing through the Barbarossa city of Kaiserslautern to reach the river Glan at Glan-Münchweiler in the Kuseler Musikantenland region. The cycle route runs the gamut of Palatinate scenery. Coming from Worms, the Rhine Plain is characterised by agricultural use and viticulture. Starting from Ramsen, cyclists pass through the northern Palatinate Forest Nature Park featuring the Eiswoog, an idyllic forest reservoir and popular recreational spot, until the hilly landscape of the Westrich Plateau rises up to the north west of Kaiserslautern.

    Short description

    For over sixty years, the military has shaped and changed the Palatinate region. The “Center for Documentation and Exhibition of the History of U.S. Americans in Rhineland-Palatinate“ is dedicated to scientific research and the imparting of this mutli-faceted history. Unique documents, exhibits and information are being compiled and preserved.

    The Docu Center displays this important chapter in German-American and European contemporary history through a professionally designed bilingual exhibition. The exhibition site with several red containers is located next to the Ramstein sports stadium. Here you can find out facts about the development over the past 60 years, the significance of the US clubs, and the air show disaster of 1988. Special exhibitions are presented as well. Free admission!

    Short description

    The "Goose Anna" fountain on Miesenbach’s market square commemorates a poor and underprivileged farmer’s girl from Miesenbach. The bronze figure shows Maria Anna Roos (1877-1944) who was hearing and speech impaired and had to make her living from herding geese.

    The fountain was created by Professor Otto Kallenbach in 1988. The historic building next to the fountain formerly housed the town hall of Miesenbach.

    The Jakob's Fountain is a natural monument in the outskirts of Miesenbach. The well with its sandstone frame and the surrounding area were restored by a group of volunteers. The place offers a drinking water supply and has become a popular resting area for hikers and walkers.

    Formerly used for fish farming, Seewoog Lake nowadays is an oasis for rest and relaxation for everyone. With its BBQ area, playground, lawn for sunbathing and nice walkways Seewoog Lake attracts the young and old both alike.

    A kiosk offers drinks and snacks. With a water surface of 19.000 square meters it is the biggest lake in the Union Community of Ramstein-Miesenbach. A special attraction in the summer months is the water fountain with a height of 8 meters in the center of the lake.

    Located in the center of Ramstein, the building which houses the "Museum im Westrich" is a treasure in itself. It is the oldest building in Ramstein, a protected Baroque building dating back to 1750. Formerly the building was used as a brewery, a pub and as the town hall.

    Nowadays it houses the tourist information center and the 'Museum im Westrich'. The permanent exhibition contains a complete furnished corner store, an old herb closet, and a lovingly set up village pub.

    In addition to its permanent collection the museum hosts several special exhibits every year. The spectrum covers historic, folklore and artistic subjects supplemented by regular concerts and lectures.

    Short description

    The site was named after the school house that was located in this area in the past. For centuries the “Schulhügel“ was the location of the ancient parish church and the old cemetery of Ramstein, until both were relocated in the last century.

    Today it is a park and memorial site with Lourdes grotto and ancient gravestones dating from the 17th and 18th century. A cross marks the location where the high altar of the ancient church once stood.

    The "Kurpfalz" Scout Center is a center of learning and recreation with a camp site. It is a regular host to boy scouts and girl scouts from all over Germany.

    The ample site consists of a house with kitchen, bathrooms, common room and beds for 40 people as well as the camp site for 300 people. It is rented out to groups and associations.
