Local clubs - Clubs build the foundation of social activities in German communities and give interested residents the opportunity to be part of an active public life.
There are a variety of clubs you can participate in, such as cultural clubs, music clubs, or sports clubs. Joining a German sports club is among the most pleasant ways of keeping fit and getting to know the local population. Germans often participate in sports activities as part of a club, a so-called “Verein”, on a weekly or biweekly basis. As a matter of fact, one in three Germans participates in a sports club. Thus, it is an outstanding opportunity to play your favorite sport with the prospect of meeting locals and becoming part of your community. Note that Germans are soccer maniacs and you will certainly find a soccer club nearby. However, there are also clubs dedicated to interests & hobbies, music & singing, gardening, and more.
Youth - There is an emphasis on sports for children and youths at local clubs, which makes a club membership an ideal opportunity for your child to get in contact with local peers. Take a look at the segment “project communities” and find out which types of clubs and recreational activities your community has to offer!
