The Palatine mountains are made up of rocks that are around 300 million years old. The Urweltmuseum Geoskop is dedicated to this prehistoric era, when Germany lay at the equator, volcanoes spat fire, and predatory fishes three meters long hunted in the ocean. Found at castle Lichtenberg, the museum offers original fossils, large dioramas, and showpieces that bring life back into this ancient time period. Especially unique is that the skeleton of the oldest dinosaur found in Germany was discovered just near the museum.
