Musical Society Otterbach
Musikverein Otterbach e.V.
Kirchenstr. 1
67731 Otterbach
Short description
Nestled in the „Lauertal,“ just a few miles from Kaiserslautern, lies our beautiful hometown of Otterbach. The town has about 4100 inhabitants and was first mentioned in 1297.
In our town we have a vivid club life, including the brass band of the “Musikverein Otterbach e.V. ".The brass band was fouded in 1928 as the third music club in Otterbach. It was refounded 1947 after the Second World War. 1948 Hugo Müller joined as conducter, and lead the brass band till April 1971. His successor became Horst Peters, a member of the „Südwestfunkorchester,“ that accounted for a great development of the club. 1975 the brass band was dubbed "Westpfälzer Blasorchester". The band travelled a lot to play at various concerts and TV shows in Germany, Europe and the United States. At the end of 1997 Horst Peters transfered the role oft he conductor over to Dr. Gary Sapp, that continued to lead the brass band on a high level.
In 2008 Robert Schmitt took over and continued the success story of the brass band. September 2012 Paul Schütt took over and brings with him valuable experience as a Jazz Musician and Professor. The brass band is able to play at the traditional festive concert as well as at modern events.
The peak of the year for the brass band is December 25, when the traditional annual concert takes places. The concert at this evening has been the goal of the band for years, and the whole band usually is looking forward to it with great excitement as it spends most of the year practicing for it. Apparently, they are successful as the concert, with more than 800 visitors, is one of the biggest in the region. At this concert the brass band is offering whatever they’ve been working on the whole year. Especially music lovers enjoy this evening a lot.

Protestant Church Community
Prot. Kirchengemeinde Otterbach
Gartenstraße 14
67731 Otterbach
Short description
Our pastors and volunteers from over 15 church communities welcome you to the Protestant Deanship of Otterbach:
24.000 Protestants are living in the area of our deanship. Most of our communities are in the rural areas around Kaiserslautern, from Niederkirchen in the North to Trippstadt in the South, from Otterberg in the East to Reichenbach-Steegen in the West. Three are belonging to the city of Kaiserslautern: Erfenbach, Mölschbach und Siegelbach. We want to be a chruch that is close to the community that is open to your recommendations and ideas.
Our mission is to provide a community through our services, education, psychological services and deaconry. We are striving to spread Jesus‘ message in a modern context through offering Kindergarten and Pre-School spaces, helping young people, assisting in life and providing psychological services as well as counseling in religious questions. We are always welcoming towards others.Since the Reformation many welsh and later huguenot Christians settled in Otterberg and various different protestant traditions found a home there. They however, have always stressed to all be Christians. It is true that the Deanship of Otterberg always supported the unity of Protestants so the so-called „Pfäzer Union“ of 1818 was more formal than anything else of Otterberg. This paper accuratley represents the sentiments that Otterberg Protestants have been holding for many centuries, „It is the outmost important thing for Protestantism to boldly continue down the road of truth and real religious enlightment with unhindered freedom of religion,” In this spirit we are excited for what you have to tell us and the interfaith dialogue.
